Pirate Intention #5: Make a Muscle

The ten pirate inTENtions are what we try to follow in order to live the pirate life (actually there are only nine... but who's counting?!). 

In Episode 75, we discuss our 5th intention... "Make a Muscle."  For us it means, staying active and living a healthy lifestyle. This intention actually is what started our trio (in a Zumba class!) and is a huge part of living the Pirate Life.

Favorite pirate memories of this intention: 
  1. Running a half marathon on Saturday and taking a full-day Strong by Zumba class on Sunday (an unanticipated challenge that we leaned into)!
  2. Zumba teaching vacations!
  3. Challenges like 75 Hard!
  4. Coaching a college cross country team!
  5. Training with Derek (best trainer ever)! 
Benefits of making a muscle: 
  1. Meeting new people (Our friendship began in a Zumba class)
  2. Social time with friends 
  3. Support 
  4. Accountability (shout out to Shawna for making us run on the rainy days)
  5. Strong bones and muscles, brain health, etc. (Learn more from the CDC)
Advice: 
  1. One step at a time. 
  2. Find something you love. 
  3. Find a buddy to help you to be accountable. 
  4. Be patient. Progress takes time.
